Pet Lovers Understand

If you’re a pet lover, you understand the personal connection that can develop between humans and animals. I love dogs. Just about all of us do. Big dogs, small dogs, yappy dogs, fluffy dogs, all of them are loveable dogs! All my life, ever since I was about four, we always had at least two animals as part of our household, and that didn’t count all the other animals we would rescue too. When I had my two children we also did some rescuing; two animals, one beautiful husky lab from Kuper Island and a Siamese cat, Bubbles. We had Kuper until he was 17 and Bubbles is still with us. I miss Kuper terribly and the absence of the interactions I had with him. That’s why I created Pet Pals. This way it gives me the ability to spend time with the animals I love, staying active while providing a service to the community. I miss that close and enduring bond that we have with our animals. Living in Sidney, I can easily assist clients on the Saanich Peninsula and the Victoria region.

I spent my childhood along the shores of the Bay of Chaleur, in Dalhousie, the northernmost town of New Brunswick, a culturally rich and diverse community. Besides enjoying the daily lifestyle of beachcombing, boating and windsurfing, I grew up in a family committed to forest management and a love for all animals, fish and wildlife. I graduated from the University of Victoria, with a BA in Social Sciences, and my professional background is publishing. I am the owner of Seaside Magazine, a Saanich Peninsula community publication dedicated to exploring the people, places and ideas of our West Coast culture. A resident of Greater Victoria and the Saanich peninsula for more than 25 years, I live in Sidney with my two teenage children, and Bubbles, our 16 year old rescue Siamese cat. You can usually find me doing my long fast walks in the community, a hike up Horth Hill or a run around the airport. I love staying active!

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m happy to take your dog to their favourite walking location. On the Saanich Peninsula we have lots of options – the path around the airport for clean paws; trails in Horth Hill or Centennial Park for good stick gathering opportunities; the beach at Island View (when accessible) or simply around the pavements of Sidney or Brentwood Bay.
Dogs need exercise every day, so rain or shine I’m ready to take them! You can let me know if your dog needs to wear a jacket to keep them warm, but don’t worry about me, I have all the gear needed to walk the Saanich Peninsula year-round.
Yes! I’m happy to pick up your pup and take them in my pet-friendly Jeep to a park or trail for a variety of walks.
If I’m pet sitting for you I will stay in close contact about arrangements. If your pet should get sick I will contact you immediately. I always require an additional emergency contact name in case I can’t get in touch with an owner when they travel.
